Every week we will feature a new gallery in LA. This week we bring you one of the most vital forum’s in which diverse audiences alike can share in it’s splendor, M+B Gallery. The space is ever-changing and constantly re-defining itself in relation to contemporary art. Using its unique collections, inspired artists and dynamic programming, the space is nesteled in a dreamy-like home on Altmont drive. M+B lives and breaths the heart and soul of California inspired visions (60’s,70’s and 80’s pop culture) among many others. We caught the Mona Kuhn’s Native exhibit this weekend. Oh how we love you, Mona Kuhn…. Other artists to check out: Alex Prager (think Valley of the Dolls meets David Lynch with a touch of Barbie), Jeff Divine (retro 70’s/80’s surf culture) and Bridgitte Waldach “Searching Red” (her main point of reference is Stanley Kubrick, say no more…). Oh’ California Dreaming…

My beautiful friend chillin poolside… Truly one of the most talented people I know. Emerging stylist, artist and dark genius, Christian Classen. His work speaks for itself. Photo taken by my other talented friend, Elizabeth Daniels. So much talent we don’t know what to do!

I mean… Legend, icon and the genius who brought Edward Sissorhands to life, Tim Burton, has reimagined the season’s “dark” delights in lieu of his career retrospective at the New York’s Museum of Modern Arts this November 22-April 26, 2010. Must have these photos in my possession now!!!!

Wisdom; the quality or state of being wise; knowledge of what is true or right coupled with just judgment as to action; sagacity, discernment, or insight. With this, we bring you Lisa Stewart’s, “Serenity” bracelet. It can be worn as a cuff, a simple statement piece and a daily mantra! Stewart has been on the scene for a while, bringing us amazing jewels inspired by clean lines, simplistic design and modern architecture.
All religions aside, the ancient serenity prayer is a powerful mantra. A true awakening, the realization that we cannot change people, places and things but we can change our thinking and our perceptions. Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the WISDOM to know the difference. It is a fundamental and central part of ancient Greco-Roman Stoic philosophy. In ancient Greek (in the Stoic literature), it is called the distinction between ta ouk eph’ hemin and ta eph’ hemin, that is, read literally, “things not up to us” vs. “things up to us.”

My amazingly talented cousin’s new brand, Suddenly Stepford! A collection of treasures designed for women who are passionate about 2 things: 1. their kids and 2. gett’n their vino on! Genius. There are all kinds of wonderful goodies; adorable hair accessories, booby bandits (breast feeding coverups), burp cloths and most importantly wine totes. I personally want one of the “Girl Theme” Pucci style burp cloths… would it be weird if I rocked one?!

Hollywood Bowl + Gustavo + full moon + fireworks = enchanted dreamy October night in LA. It was his first night in LA, and it was truly surreal. Watching this man conduct is exhilarating. His passion, mesmerizing, his moves, glorious and his talent, unmatched. We have a special affection for his amazing curls, humility and facial expressions that convey a lust and undying passion for his craft. He even allowed them to unveil his name in fireworks, showing his true age, a ripe 28. The night concluded with the much-anticipated performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, led by Dudamel, and featuring a massive 200-person community choir. Run, don’t walk to see him at Disney Hall!
To top our night off, soup dumplings, at the new Philippe Chow (a clear rip off of Mr. Chow’s but not nearly as good). However, those soup dumplings are heavenly. We say go for those alone!

NYC, a city with soul, breeds some of the most talented artists this planet has come to know. In that mix, I bring you Rudj Escobar. Friend, artist, creative master extraordinaire, Rudj brings brands, objects and people to life. His design, love of culture, knack for color, flair for pop and distinctive creative eye is just a portal into his craft. Rudj’s work is almost as wonderful as his soul. Yes, we might be a little biased since he just redid our logo and killed it but we love this kid for life.
