Another amazing eco event and project to put on the radar this weekend, A Gathering for the Environment, at The Celebrity Vault. Featuring exhibitions from artist/sculptor Neil Shigley and surfer hottie activist, David Rastovich. He’s considered one of the greenest pro surfers in the biz and Social Gypsy is crushin hard on him… The event will benefit Surfers for Cetaceans and will celebrate, The Cove (which Dave is featured in). Sanuk footwear will celebrate the launch of their new “Rasta” footwear project, named appropriately after surfer Dave “Rasta.”
The “Rasta” project consists of 100 percent sustainable and environmentally friendly materials that maintain the brand’s goal of creatively inspired yet thoughtfully designed products for the global outdoor community. Roots, rock, reggae.

We can’t believe we waited this long to give props to one of our favorite jewelery designers on the planet, Lizzie Fortunato Jewels. These pieces are the ultimate “gypsy bling” for all occasion. She’s always thinking outside of the box using textiles and colors that pop. Even her lookbook takes you on a journey of subliminal artistry. Of course, she is stationed in NYC, but you can find her pieces everywhere. We have 3 that hang proudly in our closet! Looking forward to more from LFJ.

The Marchesa Fall 2010 Ready to Wear collection blew our minds! Every single piece is impeccable. For now these dresses will have to live in our make believe online closet… Ahh thank god for the imagination.

Another beautiful week in California. To make matters even more delicious, driving down PCH along the coast, sunroof & windows open (all Thelma & Louise style), ocean at your heels and the smells of summer and spring making you feel all kinds of happy, all the while, Surfer Blood blasting through the stereo… Now if only Cafe Habana would open in Malibu, life would be just perfect!

Sean Penn is our hero. Not only did he set up the Jenkins-Penn Haitian Relief Organization (JPHRO), he is heading back to Haiti to spearhead relief efforts.
“We’re within two weeks from the rainy season. People have in essence no cover. There are tent cities that are made from rugged tarps on top and sheets on the side. It’s an incredible fire hazard. The camps are wildly overcrowded, a breeding ground for infectious diseases. So what has to happen in the next two weeks… is to try to relocate as many as possible. People are going to die in mass if we don’t get those camps closed.”

Our favorite hang out, Arcana: Books on the Arts, is the most decadent little book store situated on 3rd St Promenade in Santa Monica. The only downside is the location, (try to avoid street performances at all costs) but once inside you find yourself lost in a sea of amazing photography and art… We found ourselves drooling over a Richard Misrach book we could not afford to buy. Arcana has been there a while, but we thought we would highlight this gem!

Last night we went to the opening of the new W Hollywood and had a blast… We actually embraced the girl with the red pleather stripper pants… or were they lycra? The very best part – the restaurant inside the W, Delphine. A beautiful clean, airy, open-spaced french brasserie inside the hotel. Delphine reminds us a bit of Pastis. The vibe is delightful, with an old Hollywood flair and glamor, and the food is off the hizzy. We highly recommend the steak frites, mac n’ cheese and the cafe’ lie’geois, expresso with ice cream and chocolate sauce mmm…We’re so healthy! They even make their own grenadine for the Shirley Temple drinker…

One of our favorite etherial artists is at it again… Hayley Starr, aka the Fairy, (we swear she is one) has put out a children’s book with Libby Cupcake, that is full of imaginative, adorable, pastel illustrations. The book, “22 things your inner child loves to hear…” is a collection of inspired simple, yet powerful messages for your inner child. Buy it for a little one, buy it for your girlfriends — buy it here!
